Sat 8th April - Round One, Bottom:
Elias and Dessouki spring Saturday upsets

Round One concludes with another busy day at #ElGounaSquash, a dozen afternoon matches at the Squash Centre followed by four evening clashes on the Glass Court.

The afternoon session saw a trio of upsets as Olivia Blatchford lost four match balls in the fourth before beating Donna Urquhart in five, while in the men's Peru's Diego Elias scored a huge win as he beat seventh seed Ali Farag in straight games.

In the final matches of the session Simon Rosner won an entertaining encounter with fellow German Raphael Kandra, and qualifier Karim Ali Fathi came from a game down to beat Saurav Ghosal.

The evening session started with a pair of home winners as Raneem El Welily beat Jenny Duncalf, and Fares Dessouky - in a repeat of the Canary Wharf final - twice came from behind to beat fourth seed Nick Matthew.

Round one was completed as world champion Karim Abdel Gawad won three close games against Zahed Mohamed.

Fri 7th April - Round ONE, Top:
Afternoon marathons prelude
to Egyptian hat-trick on glass court

After two days of qualifying it was on to the top half of the main draws - a dozen matches at the El Gouna Squash Centre this afternoon, and four on the Glass Court tonight.

There were no upsets in the women's draw as all six seeded players - including 8-time champion Nicol David - progressed in straight games, but there was plenty of drama in the men's matches as Cameron Pilley and James Willstrop both won marathon five-setters, and qualifier Mazen Hesham continued his comeback with a great win over compatriot Tarek Momen.

The evening session on the glass court started with three Egyptian winners as top seeds Nour El Sherbini and Mohamed Elshobagy won as did Nouran Gohar, and the day was rounded off by world #1 Gregory Gaultier taking out wildcard Marwan Tarek.
