Settling in at the Marina

Well, it’s never exactly plain sailing when working in Egypt. Things sometimes are not exactly organised, and as it happened, we the writers (the two Angels from the PSA team, Cubs and I) didn’t have an office as such.

Well, we had on paper, but it just happened that we were supposed to share with SquashTV.

But if last year, they had a large office – which is now a bagel place – this time round, it’s about 1m x 1m …

Ah. No problem. An office that was actually in rubble was cleared, cleaned and sorted within 35m. Ok, it was a bit touch and go when Ahmed, the Marina Manager, said “let me check” when the electricity was not working but Elhamdoulillah, light was soon ours…

Pfew…

This year, we have our normal tea/coffee providers next door, Iggy, same price as last year, and as smiling charming as last year. Mori Sushi, bless them, still nice as ever, and letting us using their toilets – we have a toilet as well, but not as nice to be honest!

A little stroll about the court sees my seat booked at the back left of the VIP seats – merci Mansi for letting me sit there, makes my life verrrrry easy. Also, I wouldn’t mind taking with me one of the hoovers from the Miele stand!

Another long day that will finish at Moods, our food sponsor, late tonight, before we take a tuktuk to go back to the hotel to crash and recover before another long day ahead. And I’m lucky, cause it’s Steve that is covering the Masters…I’m the lazy one at SquashSite…

Pssst.. did you know? Our Promoter and former top player Amr Mansi is actually playing in the Masters!!! So nice to see him on the court again…
