R1 : Aifa/Jana, Nicolas/Ramit

Aifa Azman (MAS) 3-1 Jana Shiha (EGY)  7-11, 16-14, 11-6, 11-8 (43m)

“I feel in the first game, I didn’t get my rhythm. I tried to get my rhythm in the second game, it was very close, I was 10-6 up but then it got to 10-10. I just tried to calm myself.

“I have never played with Zeina before but I hit with her a few days ago, it’s going to be a tough match. It’s my first time in El Gouna, so I hope I play well.

“I feel better in El Gouna than Cairo because Cairo is a bit too crowded. El Gouna is a really nice place and I really enjoy the views, there are very beautiful.”

Nicolas Mueller (SUI) bt Ramit Tandon (IND) 3-0 11-6, 12-10, 11-5 (30m)

“Ramit is a very dangerous player.

“It was freezing on there today, so whoever had the opportunity to go short first would win the rallies. I managed to hit some good balls today, I was moving quite freely, I was quick onto the ball and winning that second game was crucial. He was leading 9-6, so coming back and winning that 12-10 gave me a push for the third game.

“We played the other month and today was exactly the same as last time. We had one okay game, I was down in one game and he had game balls to win it, if it’s 1-1 it can go either way.

“I’ve been playing well and I’m enjoying the way I’m playing. We have this event, then Mauritius and then after that I’m very much looking forward to some well-earned rest.”
